Entourage has released a new video showing the enTourage eDGe ereader in action – you can watch this below.
The eDGe has a number of features that set it apart from other ereaders. Most obviously it’s a dual screen device (“dualbook”), incorporating both eBook and netbook functionality as well as built in microphones and camera for audio and video recording. The ereader screen has a 9.7″ epaper screen with a resolution of 1200×825 pixels. Supported ebook formats are ePub and PDF, with or without Adobe DRM. The netbook side has a 10.1″, 1024×600 colour touchscreen and is built around Google’s Android operating system.
The eDGe is clearly a high end device, aimed mainly at academia where people don’t just read books but use them as an integral part of a research and publication pipeline. It’s available to buy in the US for $499 and new orders will ship starting March 2010.
